I live outside the US. Will the code reader work on my vehicle?  If you live within the United States, all 1996 and newer passenger cars, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty vehicles are required to support OBD II diagnostics. If you live within Europe and the UK,  EOBD (European On-Board Diagnostics) is required. The GS400 on EOBD vehicles.  If you within any other country not listed above, the your country may have started requiring OBD in other years or have no mandated OBD II requirements.

Does your scan tool support European EOBD?  Yes, European EOBD (European On-Board Diagnostics) equipped vehicles work with the GS400. ?

For vehicles sold in International markets outside the US, the vehicle’s OBD II connector pins can assist in determining whether the GS400 scan tool will work with your vehicle. You can also check for an emission sticker under the hood indicating OBD II, EOBD, or EOBD2 certification. Our scan tool works on EOBD (European On-Board Diagnostics) and EOBD2 vehicles. Please note, for International vehicles even if the connector pinouts match one of the protocols below, there is still a slight possibility it might not function correctly. See our FAQ for more information on vehicles sold outside the US. For vehicles sold inside the US, the government mandates OBD II compliance so inspecting your vehicle’s connector is not necessary, except if you are concerned that your vehicle might be equipped with CAN. There are up to 5 protocols supported by the GS400. Each protocol uses different pins to communicate with external scan tools. Some pins are mandatory, and some are optional, depending on the vehicle’s protocol. The connector may have other pins populated that are unimportant. Will This Code Reader Work with My Car?(MUST READ)

The Geniscan OBD II Code Reader is specially designed to work with all OBD II compliant vehicles. It is required by EPA that All 1996 and newer vehicles (cars and light trucks) sold in the United States must be OBD II compliant and this includes all Domestic, Asian and European vehicles.
A small number of 1994 and 1995 model year gasoline vehicles are OBD II compliant. To verify if a 1994 or 1995 vehicle is OBD II compliant, check the Vehicle Emissions Control Information (VECI) Label which is located under the hood or by the radiator of most vehicles. If the vehicle is OBD II compliant, the label will designate â��OBD II Certifiedâ��. Additionally, Government regulations mandate that all OBD II compliant vehicles must have a â��commonâ�� sixteen-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). For your vehicle to be OBD II compliant, it must have a 16 pin DLC (Data Link Connector) under the dash and the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label must state that the vehicle is OBD II compliant. This label is located on the inside of the hood on most vehicles.

How to Use?

When your “Check Engine” light or “Service Engine Soon” or â��Checkâ�� light is on, stop the car and apply the parking brake, start the engine, and then plug the Geniscaner code reader to the 16-pin diagnostic socket(universal connector) usually located under the instrument panel in the car. Push the Read button and it automatically gets the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCS) if any in less than 10 seconds.
Identify the trouble codes and retrieve their detailed descriptions by looking up the Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTCS) list in the enclosed user�s manual.
